Iceland Excursion Photoshoot

La Mer Collections

THE CHALLENGE

This La Mer Collections’ Icelandic international photoshoot was its most innovative, as it was the first winter location the brand decided to shoot its annual collection in. Iceland’s magical landscape complemented La Mer’s unique watch designs, as its volcanic beaches, sparkling waterfalls, lush green landscapes and rainbow sunsets made each watch come to life.

Temescal Creative was the lead on its full coordination including: Creative direction, production, location scouting, booking all travel for all team members gathering from around the globe and importantly, on-set management ensuring that all aspects of this Icelandic production went smoothly and executed a finished product required by the brand.

This Icelandic Photoshoot tested the team’s organizational skills, flexibility, creative capacity. It also tested their physical strength as Iceland’s quick to change weather patterns meant that shooting by a volcanic beach could turn into a hail storm, or trying to find the perfect light (and highlight the neon leather strap colors against a hidden spring pool) may turn into a 2 hour hike into a mountain. Each member of this Icelandic photoshoot’s team helped tell the valuable visual story of how the stunning Icelandic landscape connected to each La Mer Watch design.

This shoot was one if its most successful and translated into gaining new clientele and retailers including the iconic Takashimaya department stores in Japan, bringing La Mer Collections’ into their stores countrywide, along with the famous 'The Grove’ outdoor mall in Los Angeles. The Grove subsequently to this Iceland photoshoot asked La Mer to have a Pop-Up retail cart location within the outdoor Mall.

This International photoshoot set the benchmark for the brand’s future collections and creative direction and directly aided in the company’s growth.
