Upcycled Vintage Sweatshirts

Vintage Sweatshirt

THE CHALLENGE

Upcycling transforms discarded products and renews them, thus changing that same product into something new and even of higher quality. Upcycling is a sustainable and eco-conscious means of manufacturing and has a positive impact on the environment. It requires much less energy than recycling. It saves natural resources and reduces greenhouse gas emissions in the process. Slicing and stitching old clothes and other textiles to create new clothing is more manageable than breaking down old garments entirely.

This sustainable brand, simply named ‘Vintage Sweatshirt’ chose to upcycle plain vintage sweats, and transform them into pieces of wearable art. By stitching rainbow, paint-like colors of cotton embroidery floss, and then hand embroidering patterns that were similar to sunsets, water and wings, across each garment, each unique vintage sweatshirt became wearable piece of art.

Once samples were created by hand, the next step was for a large scaled production to be organized. Temescal Creative sourced a USA based factory, who had the state of the art machinery and personnel who could mimic these designs and produce on larger sized production run in a high quality and sustainable way.
